Joel joined LFHRS in 1999 as a volunteer, in that capacity he served on the Board of Directors and rode actively for several years. In 2004 he received his Paramedic certification and came on full-time at LFHRS.
In 2008 he was appointed as the first career Chief of Operations until he resigned in 2010. From 2010 to 2014 he served first as the Clinical Coordinator, then as the Program Director at Sanford-Brown Institute. Upon the school's closing he was asked to resume his previous position as Chief of Operations at LFHRS.
Joel graduated Suma Cum Laude with a bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, and is also, currently an active EMS educator, teaching Tactical EMS, and active shooter response to, EMS, Fire and Law Enforcement agencies nationally. Joel has completed the Basic SWAT Operator course, and the Police Response to Active Shooter Instructor course through the National Tactical Officers Association.
Joel currently holds a dual certification as a Personal Trainer with the American Council on Exercise (ACE) and the American Aerobic Association International / International Sports Medicine Association (AAAI/ISMA). He is also certified as a spin instructor and a weight management consultant through (AAAI/ISMA). In addition to this, he is a certified Tactical Fitness Instructor through the American Sports & Fitness Association (ASFA).
Joel is a member of: National Tactical Officers Association, Special Operations Medical Association, and a life member of the National Association of EMT's (NAEMT).
Todd has over twenty years of experience in the emergency medical service profession. Starting his career as a volunteer EMT for a non-profit ambulance service, he has worked as an EMT and Advanced EMT before being licensed as a paramedic. Todd's career includes 17 years as a Fire Service Paramedic, Field Training Officer, and Adjunct Instructor for the Philadelphia Fire Department and over fifteen years of experience as a line and chief officer for several combination EMS departments in suburban Philadelphia. In addition to his clinical experience, Todd developed and managed an associate's level paramedic certification program and worked as the National Registry of EMT Coordinator of Examinations. At the National Registry of EMT, he worked with EMS educators, regulators, and physician medical directors to develop the national EMS certification exams.
Todd has a Master of Public Administration with a concentration in Law and Public Policy from Walden University and a Bachelor of Science in Applied Science - Allied Health Management from Youngstown State University. In addition to working full-time as Levittown-Fairless Hills Rescue Squad's Deputy Chief, he volunteers as the Co-chair of the International Board of Specialty Services' Item Writing & Exam Construction Committees.
Brian began his career in EMS while still in high school, became an EMT in 1986, and a paramedic in 1997. Brian has been employed with Levittown-Fairless Hills Rescue Squad since 1989 and is a certified firefighter, vehicle rescue technician, and emergency vehicle operator instructor for other local agencies.
As an Assistant Chief, in addition to providing direct supervision to the crews during daily and special operations, Brian is responsible for maintaining all LFHRS apparatus. Brian volunteers as an Honor Guard for the Bucks County Fallen Firefighter and EMS Memorial Honor Guard. When not working or volunteering, Brian enjoys spending time at home with his family.
Eric started his career in Emergency Services as a volunteer firefighter at 16, which was quickly followed by volunteering for Levittown-Fairless Hills Rescue Squad a few months later. Eric obtained his EMT through the Bucks County Technical High School as part of the Emergency Services Technology course, and he remained a regular volunteer for LFHRS until he was officially hired in 2020.
In 2022, Eric earned his Advanced EMT certification and is currently enrolled in National Medical Education & Training Center's paramedic program. Eric also attends Bucks County Community College, completing his Associate in Health Sciences. Eric has also worked various other EMS-related jobs in the area and is a volunteer firefighter for a local fire company.
As a Battalion Chief, in addition to providing direct supervision to the crews during daily and special operations, Eric oversees the logistical aspects of LFHRS, supervising the Supply and Facilities Departments. When not on duty, he enjoys taking trips to OCNJ, spending time outdoors, rock climbing with friends, or simply relaxing at home.
Ian began his EMS service in 2021 after joining the Swarthmore Fire Department in Delaware County. In 2002, he attended EMT training at nearby Swarthmore College and began many years of volunteer work. While attending Rowan University in NJ, he joined the campus EMS agency and was elected Lieutenant and then Captain in his Senior year. After graduating, Ian attended Delaware County Community College for his paramedic program, graduating in 2009. After graduation, Ian worked for Delaware County Memorial Hospital as a paramedic until gaining full-time status for Levittown-Fairless Hills Rescue Squad.
As a Battalion Chief, in addition to providing direct supervision to the crews during daily and special operations, Ian oversees the Training aspects of LFHRS, including the members responsible for the ALS, BLS, Community, and Tactical training, as well as our Field Training and Evaluation Program. Ian works with the membership to schedule training classes to continue improving the care provided to the communities LFHRS serves.
Ian has a Bachelor's Degree in Communications from Rowan University, an Associate of Applied Science – Paramedic studies from Delaware County Community College, and an Associate's Degree in Nursing from Excelsior College. Ian also is licensed by the Federal Communications Commission as an Amateur Radio Operator with a General Class License.
When he's not working, Ian enjoys the outdoors, talking on his radios to people worldwide, and spending time with his family.
Julie became interested in emergency medicine while taking wilderness medicine courses in college. Julie became an EMT in 2019 and volunteered with a local rescue squad until graduation from Colgate University in 2021. At that point, she attended Seminole State College's paramedic program, after which she moved to Pennsylvania and joined the Levittown-Fairless Hills Rescue Squad.
As Captain, in addition to providing direct supervision to the crews during daily and special operations, Julie is one of the Assistant Quality Assurance Coordinators working to improve the care LFHRS provides to the residents and visitors of our coverage areas and the BLS Training Coordinator. She enjoys knitting, hiking, camping, wilderness survival, and rock climbing in her free time.
Karla started her EMS career in 2000 as a volunteer EMT for Levittown-Fairless Hills Rescue Squad, and she recently became an Advanced EMT. Before coming to LFHRS, she completed her Bachelor's of Science in Education and Theology degree and the Microsoft Certified System Engineer and Microsoft Certified Professional programs.
Karla's technical and educational background quickly moved her into various organizational, administrative, and operational functions. She also served on the Board of Directors. Karla is currently a Captain, and she heads LFHRS's IT department and is one of the squad's Designated Infection Control Officers, helping to assure the safety of the organization's members.
Mike graduated from Bensalem High School in 1995 and began his career in Emergency Services shortly after. In the fall of 2015, he became an IFSAC and Pro Board Certified Firefighter. In 1996, Mike became a 9-1-1 dispatcher at Bucks County Communications, and in 1998, became an EMT. After leaving his position as a dispatcher, he became a paramedic and obtained an Associate's degree in Specialized Technology.
As a Captain, in addition to providing direct supervision to the crews during daily and special operations, Mike is the Scheduling Coordinator at Levittown-Fairless Hills Rescue Squad, ensuring all ambulances are staffed to provide emergency medical care to the communities we serve. Mike is a certified instructor in several public safety topics. Mike enjoys volunteering as a firefighter in his free time and loves spending time with his family.
Albert started his EMS journey in Maryland at 14 as a volunteer in various agencies. He moved to Philadelphia for university and obtained his AEMT in 2021. Before joining Levittown-Fairless Hills Rescue Squad in 2022, Albert was an AEMT at various agencies in the five-county area, an EMS instructor, and the chief of Drexel's collegiate EMS squad.
As a Captain, in addition to providing direct supervision to the crews during daily and special operations, Albert is one of the Assistant Quality Assurance Coordinators working to improve the care LFHRS provides to the residents and visitors of our coverage areas.
Albert is completing his Bachelor of Science in Biology and Communications as a senior at Drexel University and plans to matriculate to medical school in the upcoming year. Albert's medical interests include emergency medicine, tactical medicine, and emergency medical services.
In his free time, Albert enjoys spending time with his friends and family and exploring new places to travel.
At age 16, Kyle obtained his EMT while volunteering at Levittown-Fairiless Hills Rescue Squad and attending Bucks County Technical High School as part of the Emergency Services Technology course in 2011. After completing high school, Kyle was hired part-time and then transitioned to full-time status.
Kyle has taken on several roles at LFHRS, including Field Training Officer, QA assistant, and assistant Scheduling Coordinator. As a Captain, in addition to providing direct supervision to the crews during daily and special operations, Kyle is in charge of the Field Training Program, supervising the onboarding of new members.
When not at work, Kyle enjoys spending time with his wife and son going on adventures in Philadelphia, New York City, and other favorite places, especially during the Christmas holidays. If he isn't visiting the cities with his family, they are at home relaxing and spending time with their dog and two cats or down the Jersey Shore fishing or relaxing on the beach.
Jen started her career in EMS in 2021 as a volunteer with Levittown-Fairless Hills Rescue Squad. In 2022, she earned her EMT certification at the BCCC, and in 2023 she went on to further her education, obtaining her NRAEMT. Jen plans to further her certification and will attend paramedic school in 2025. Jen is involved in other areas around the community and is an assistant instructor at the Bucks County Community College.
At LFHRS, Jen fills many roles with an overlapping theme of helping others. She is our Community Outreach Coordinator, Social Media Coordinator, Safety Officer, and Morale, Wellness, and Recreation Officer. As our Community Outreach Coordinator, Jen helps LFHRS stay engaged with our community by providing education about EMS at local schools, township events, and car seat installation to improve the safety of the children in our community. As Social Media Coordinator, Jen keeps the public informed about what LFHRS has been up to, links to public medical information and alerts, and highlights the good work our staff members provide. As Safety Officer, Jen works with her co-workers to help keep our staff and visitors safe in our building and ambulances. As the Morale, Wellness, and Recreation officer, Jen works to keep the morale of her co-workers up by planning events/functions and showing recognition for exceptional care.
While off duty, Jen enjoys spending time with her husband and their five children. Jen loves to garden and work on their small hobby farm, which she hopes to expand very soon with more farm animals and gardens. Jen is raising new baby chicks for which she has such a passion. Jen's hard work expands far past being a great provider on an ambulance, and she is truly a jack of all trades.
